It’s been a good day today on this Father’s Day. It rained, but we still managed to enjoy ourselves during the moments the sun peeked out from behind the clouds. I found some lovely cherry scented natural soap at a craft fair. It smells like heaven! Between the bits of rain, I had moments of happiness and moments of sadness because Father’s Day is bittersweet for me and for so many others.
For some, today was the first Father’s Day with a noticeably absent parent.
For others, they are just trying to figure out for the first time how this whole dad thing works!
There may be some dads out there that feel “unqualified” to celebrate being a dad even though they play that role in someone’s life and play it well.
Some dads had barbeques and belly laughs.
Others had arguments that ruined the day.
Sometimes we build days like Father’s day up to be something really special but get disappointed when they fall short of our expectations.
It’s okay if today wasn’t perfect.
It’s okay if it was! For you, it may have been a truly awesome day.
Some just wanted this day to end.
I’m somewhere in between. Perhaps having lost my dad I always will be in that in between place and I think that’s okay.
Love on your dads and dad figures if you have ’em.
Keep those that don’t in your thoughts. ♥
